I hate it when people refer to homosexual people when trying to insult someone.
example: "you're gay", "you're a fag", "that's so gay".

Just because a person falls out of meanstream society doesn't mean that we should single them out and make life harder for them.

Its meant to say you are different. Like saying somebody is uncool.

Whenever somebody calls me gay, i say "Your mum disagree's".

Shuts them up good.

well "Gay" insults aren't really offending or hurtful except if you're one but it's very easy to counter it just say "well come on let's have a fight outside unless you're the gay"
then fight with em' if you win everyone's happy except him you're not gay and you beat him up, He's beaten' to death and he's the gay one" and the crowd cheers for you wink)

or if he doesn't fight with you call em' gay day and night!

I only use them if im joking around. One of my mates IRL is gay and we always say that to him, as a joke. I wouldnt call it offencive at all. I know im not gay, someone calling me a gay isnt going to change anything.

The fact of the matter is people who aren't homosexual generally do not like to be mistaken to be homosexual. Being called a faggot is not a pleasant experience.
Secondly. Taking an insult literally is the most moronic fucking thing you can do. Saying 'fuck you' doesn't actually mean someone wants to stick it up your ass, at least not often. The point is that a certain word has a certain connotation, and thus being called a swearword is insulting regardless of it's original context. Trying to disprove an insult by taking it literally is on par with saying 'WELL, YOUR MOM!'.
