I think a failed animation is when the animator has run into a certain group of frames he or she may dislike and tries to helplessly fix them but ends up making it worse.

Sniper is right, really. This isn't so much a debatable topic as a question. There's no point of contention; everyone basically agrees that an animation fails at the discretion of the person who created it. There isn't a debate here, though I do see where you were coming from.
