It depends on what type of vedio games you are talking about. Some games have different types of features that affect the young child's mind.

Killing, sex, gore, and cursing vs educational and family friendly?

Not to be rude but use your brain, I don't need to give an example for you to think about what I'm talking about.

It'd be courteous in the spirit of the debate, though. But since you always act like a stuck-up cunt, I suppose we'd be wrong to expect courtesy from you.

First of all, this is why those games are rated for teens or adults. Secondly, there's this nifty thing called suspension of disbelief where when a person watches a movie or plays a game, he accepts that reality for the duration, but afterwards recognizes that it was not real and as such does not suddenly want to do everything he did in the game or saw in the movie.

Games let people do things they can't do in real life, or they substitute things they do in real life. For example killing someone; GTA IV or real-life? I'll choose GTA, no consequence.

I noticed that a good 80% of my friends who played R18 games such as GTA on a constant basis at around 7, ended up getting very angry, swore excessively and had a negative attitude towards almost everything. So in a certain context video games in general are not bad but the way people exploit it or a weak minded (like what Picto said). It is similar to alcohol its not the drink, it's HOW we are drinking it.

I was trying to push you to support your argument with actual facts and not just mindlessly state things, i thought it would be a good way to spark the debate, but you had to get all pissy. Video games affect people, but the question is do they affect them in a negative way? I heard that a lot of video games increase rational thinking when it comes to problem solving and ive actually yet to see any evidence that video games are bad(for the age that they're meant for)

Oh please, only Jack Thompson and idiots like Jack Thompson think games are bad for kids.

Have you ever actually seen a kid say "Wow, Call of Duty/Halo/Grand Theft Auto is awesome! Maybe I can get a gun and shoot people like in the game!" or similar at any point in your life? I think the violence in the game is preventing you from killing people in real life, seeing as you already have the satisfaction of doing to without having real cops trying to arrest you.
"The Good Book once said, 'Moses spoke thus to the people of Israel, but they did not listen to Moses, because of their broken spirit and harsh slavery.'

This is irrelevant, but it still rings true, I guess?"

If a kid gets affected by a violent video game, and goes ''lets shoot up a school! just like in call of duty!" he is unfit to play a video game, and/or a sociopath. Parents just want to get videogames that are violent banned, so they (god forbid) don't have to parent them properly, by telling them what's wrong and what's right. Lazy parents, like always, bitch if something makes them do their job.

You couldn't have missed the point more had you closed your eyes and had the point been in another country altogether.

Lawl. But anyways, video games can affect young minds, such can TV and movies, but there are worse things for kids than video games.

This is why (in America, for example) the ESRB, TV Parental Guidelines, and the MPAA exist.

There's no real scientific evidence that proves that. So why should I take your word for it?
