B-Sides are what makes the actual thing look even better.

Yes. I know. But still counts as a DDC in my opinion.

It's funny because the real thing almost did fail at one point. Everyone better pull their weight for the DDC12.

Everyone must compliment Stickid to boost his self esteem! That way he will work faster and harder!

You're the best animator/flasher ever!

Lol thanks for the boost!
Seriously though, I'm moving in exactly 7 days, once I'm in my new place I'll have plenty of free time to finally polish off the B-Side and hopefully get to some of my other projects and collabs, including the Blood Collab 3!!

Wow, that's great. Glad to hear it Stickid. I really love your flashing.

The only real issue I had with DDC11 was the separate phases. For me, I just like to see most of the animations all together and maybe have it interrupted once or twice. The flashing was amazing, don't get me wrong or anything, but I felt it was a bit over done at times. I also like to hear entire songs. It's just a weird thing I like.

So, maybe with DDC12 you could try to interrupt it a little less but still have it syncing with the animations, if that makes sense. Can't wait to see B-Side either way though. Just some of my personal opinion really. :)

I'm glad the DDC11 came out to fruition. With a forum like DarkDemon I never ever believed their collabs would fail. I always thought DarkDemon was too good for that.

Looking at the DDCs are what made me want to spend more time at DD. I hope the DDC12 will also help support my reasoning for being here. (thumbsup)

The lack of fluid scenes. Especially on the front end of the collab, many of the animations were well animated, but were scene wise, very blocky. Everything was a cut scene. Everything was divided by a quick cut and fad to black, then fade back in. As a viewer, that took a lot away from my appreciation for the skill displayed in the animation shown. Camera movement isn't as prevalent a thing as I came to expect and it raised a few questions for me.

I hope to spark some conversation and I hope no one thinks I'm too far gone from animation to be taken seriously. Thanks for taking the time to read what was on my mind.

Thanks for watching the DDC11 and being honest about how it made you feel, sorry you were mostly disappointed by it. I wish people could make perfectly fluid animations every time, but it's honestly never going to happen. All you can ask from people is to try their best and I think that, given the circumstances this DDC, everybody really did. I mean this DDC almost didn't happen at all because people simply lost motivation. Fortunately a number of people stood up and worked very hard to make it happen.

Sure the animations weren't the best, they never are. But at least someone took their own time and effort to make them. It's easy to sit there and complain about something you had no involvement in. As a more experienced animator, you have an opportunity to set the example don't you? Not to single you out personally, there's a lot of wonderful older animators that inspired the current generation but have since retired or become inactive. As I see it, YOU have to be the change you want to see in animators. You know what I mean?

Flaming Wolf wrote:I'm largely curious if anyone has given any acknowledgement to the idea of eliminating the two second-long scenes in a thirty second-long animation. It may be unavoidable, I don't know, but if it is I think that a lot of the animations could have truly flourished in the whole picture of the collaboration.

I love animations like this, they're still out there. Probably the best example is the Vets Joint.

A suggestion to Stickid/staff/etc; I think the DDC12 should be started soon, the main reason for this is the due release of the new version of pivot, expected within a few months according to Peter. The DDC12 will be the last collab to be animated in Pivot 2.5, and it will encourage an awesome send-off!

Plus, it has been ages since the DDC11 was actually started...

Thoughts on this? Also, I got my results today for my exams, which were terrible, but on the exam sheet it spells 'DDC' (my grades) and then the number 12 below it (the year I am in at school). It made my shitty grades awesome!

I don't think we should start the DDC12 based on Peter's expectations, we can't guarantee he'll be done in a few months. There's a reason he hasn't finished Pivot in all these years, if it would just take a few months of work he would've been done by now.

I've always thought the DDC should be made at the most convenient time possible for the majority of people: when they're not in school. Since summer is over, I say we push for winter break.
